How to print multiple photos on one page (A4 or US Letter)
Updated 3 October 2026
To print several photos on one A4 or US Letter sheet at their real sizes from an iPhone, give each photo a physical print size, let a layout app arrange them on the page, and print at 100% scale. In Photo Print: Size & Layout you add the photos, pick a size for each (4 × 6, 5 × 7, 2 × 3 wallet, passport sizes or custom), and it packs them onto A4 or Letter, turning a photo 90° when that helps but never shrinking it.
Printing one 4 × 6 at a time wastes most of an A4 or Letter sheet. Putting two 5 × 7s, ten wallet prints or a mix of sizes on one sheet uses the paper fully, and the cut guides make trimming them straightforward.
How many photos fit on one page
Counts below come from Photo Print’s own packing (photos turned where that fits more). The preview in the app always shows the real number for your margin, spacing and orientation. A4 is 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 in); US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm).
| Photo size | A4, 3 mm gaps | US Letter, 3 mm gaps | A4, no gaps | US Letter, no gaps |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 × 7 in (13 × 18 cm) | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
| 4 × 6 in (10 × 15 cm) | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| 2 × 3 in wallet | 10 | 10 | 11 | 13 |
| 2 × 2 in | 15 | 15 | 15 | 20 |
| 35 × 45 mm | 29 | 28 | 32 | 29 |
Mixed sizes work the same way: the largest photos are placed first, smaller ones fill the gaps along each row, and a second page starts when the first is full. For passport and ID photos see How to print passport and ID photos at home.
Steps: several photos on one sheet with Photo Print
- Create a layout. In Photo Print, start a new layout and choose A4 or US Letter paper, portrait or landscape.
- Add photos. Pick the photos from your library. The system photo picker only gives the app the photos you choose.
- Give each photo a size. Choose 4 × 6 in, 5 × 7 in, 2 × 3 in (wallet), an ID size, or a custom size in inches, centimetres or millimetres. Photos can have different sizes on the same sheet.
- Choose fit or fill. Fill covers the whole size and crops the overflow (adjust the crop by hand); Fit keeps the whole picture inside the size.
- Set borders, spacing and cut guides. Add a white border, change the gap between photos and the page margin, and turn on cut guides to make trimming easy.
- Fill the spare space. Add copies of a photo to use up the empty part of the sheet.
- Check the preview and quality. The preview shows every page as it will print. A photo that is too big for the paper is listed with the largest size that fits instead of being shrunk; each photo also gets a print-quality rating.
- Print or save a PDF. Print through AirPrint at true size, or save a PDF with real A4 / Letter pages and print it at 100%.
Tips
- Margins. Most printers can’t print within about 5 mm (0.2 in) of the paper edge. Keep the margin at least that unless your printer prints borderless.
- Spacing. A small gap (2–3 mm) makes each photo easier to cut cleanly; no gap fits more and needs one cut between neighbours.
- Orientation. Try both portrait and landscape page orientation; one often fits an extra photo.
- Print at 100%. If the photos come out smaller than expected, see Photo printed the wrong size?
Frequently asked questions
How do I print multiple photos on one page on iPhone?
The iPhone Photos app decides how big each photo prints from the paper you pick; it has no way to set the physical size of each photo. To choose the real size of each photo, use a layout app such as Photo Print: Size & Layout: add the photos, give each one a size, and it arranges them on A4 or US Letter and prints at true size.
How many 4×6 photos fit on one A4 or Letter page?
Two, turned sideways, with a ¼ in margin and 3 mm gaps. US Letter can hold three if you remove the gap between photos (two upright side by side and one sideways).
How many wallet photos fit on one page?
Ten 2 × 3 in wallet photos fit on A4 or US Letter with a ¼ in margin and 3 mm gaps; on Letter, thirteen fit with no gaps.
Can I mix different photo sizes on one sheet?
Yes. Each photo has its own size. Photo Print places the largest first, turns photos 90° when that fits more, and starts a new page when the sheet is full.
Will the app shrink my photos to fit them on the page?
No. Photo Print never scales a photo down to fit. If a photo is larger than the printable area in both orientations, it is left out and the app says so, along with the largest size that would fit.
Does it work with centimetres and millimetres?
Yes. Sizes, margins and spacing can be shown and entered in inches, centimetres or millimetres, and A4 paper is defined as exactly 210 × 297 mm.
